A boat nears the reef,
Two boys in a pool,
A drunkard’s errand,
A friend and a fool.
A boy push’d under,
He gasps to scream,
Wave split by thunder,
In waters stream.
Blackened eyes and blue below,
Sunken cheeks of indigo,
A limp wreck held by arms of coral,
A painful voyage of a deadly moral.
